The Turret Cafe began life back in 1895 as a private residence. Since World War II its lower floor has been used for commercial purposes, and a fair amount of that time has been as the warm cafe that visitors so fondly know it as today. The signature dish here is the succulent lamb, slowly roasted for four hours. Two large bay windows allow diners to view the passings-by of Sturt Street, and two leather-pressed fireplaces - specially shipped out from Scotland - provide plenty of warmth on chilly evenings.
