The woodfired oven is the centre of attention at Ladro, as chef Tristan White pulls out gorgeous artisan pizzas that are among some of the best you'll find in Australia. Roasted meat dishes also get the woodfired treatment, and it's hard to resist starting off with such tasty entrees as arancini that are as small as they are divinely crisp. The modest wine list is impressive for its size and includes quite a few quality Italian drops. Ladro is almost like the anti-pizzeria, featuring spot-on service, stylish surrounds, and a fashionable Fitzroy clientele enjoying the casual-but-not-too-casual vibe.

worth the wait
I came here with some friends a while ago, we didn't make a booking and hoped for the best...we did have to wait a while but let me tell you it was very much worth the wait. The staff were really good in letting us know how long it would be, once we sat down the food came out quickly and all at once.
It was a super tasty meal and I look forward to trying their new one on greville street

Super cool food, wine & service..
Ladro is one of my favourite places to dine, for the pizza, arrosto of the day, bombolloni, wines from regions all over Italy & of course SEAN & GEOFFREY.. The service is fast, smooth & its always buzzing..If you cant get in just hang at the bar & sip on a glass of nero de avola, until you can squeeze in..trust me its well worth the wait..The pizzas are so thin, hot & crispy, mindblowing..I absolutely rec this place to eat & drink if yr downtown fitzroy melbourne.

Rude
All guests were forced to have $45 set menu. One person only wanted soup but was forced to still pay $45. Manager extremely rude when we argued that $45 was too expensive for one bowl of soup. Pizzas were just toppings on pita bread. Would not recommend attending this restaurant.

Hidden courtyard little gem..
Recently visited Ladro for a gfs bday....as we were a group of 12 we were seated out back in their cosy courtyard...was nice and toasted and very atmospheric :) we had a set menu for $37.50 each which included shared entrees, pizza and desserts. The entree amounts were generous- consisting of an antipasto platter, bread, olives and calamari, but the pizza was only 1 between 3 (i was still hungry) and the dessert tiramisu (1 between 4) donuts (1 each) and something else i cant remember. The quality of all food was excellent, but i'm not sure if i'd agree it as the best pizza in melbourne. definately worth a visit though :)

Ladro has still got it!
I had't been to Ladro for a year...so many new places to try in Melbourne these days. I sure am glad I returned. The pizza was just as fantastic as I remembered and the house made ravioli was delicious. Yes it was a small serving of 8 handmade rabbit ravioli but it was one of the best handmade pastas I have had recently. The Italian bomboloni were amazing. And as usual the service was friendly and unpretensious. Looking forward to taking an Italian friend there soon.

pizzas were big and tasty (and also expensive), wine was good but the atmosphere was not 'happening'. we did not feel welcome and most likely will not come back.

Stick to the pizza only
Restaurant was squeezy, wine list though was good. 3 had pizza and I had ravioli - all meals were very tasty BUT my main meal had 7 small ravioli pieces in the bowl (i counted them)- i just stared at the bowl & so did my other 3 friends! This was supposed to be my main meal and I ended up paying $21.50 for 7 small ravioli pieces. I was gob-smacked and ended up raiding the pantry when I got home. The pizzas were a decent size & indeed tasty however don't ask for additional toppings on pizzas because the answer we got was "No we can't do that". Overall not impressed, over-priced - not going back
