Ginseng, from the outside, looks pretty much like any other Manuka restaurant - funky decor, outdoor seating and very busy. On the inside however, you'll find treats that are quite different to anything else you'll find in the area, or Canberra for that matter. Owner/chef Rockie Cheung serves up his own distinctive style of traditional Chinese, adding a subtle, contemporary touch to each dish. We're definitely not talking run-of-the-mill, local-shops takeaway here - Rockie has worked in illustrious eateries such as The Raddison Plaza, Sydney. Ginseng has garnered the 'Best Chinese Restaurant' gong 2004 and 2005 from Restaurant and Catering Association NSW, so even if you're not a fan of Asian food, it could be quite rewarding. Try duck san choy bao (roasted duck with mushroom, water chestnut and celery, served on a crisp lettuce leaf) for two, or the duck pancake.

Great Chinese
Very good Chinese food. Highly recommended.
Only gripe? The steamed rice was a bit too wet.
Otherwise the dishes themselves were extremely tasty and I can see why they have been awarded one of the best Chinese eateries in the ACT.
Recommended dishes include sizzling pepper dishes, Chinese broccoli with mushroom sauce, and satay dishes.

Fantastic
Wow is the only word that can describe the food, atmosphere and service!! Now I really know why they won Best Chinese Restaurant in Australia! I'm from Melbourne and struggle to find a good Chinese restaurant. This is the best! The duck pancakes and stuffed eggplant are to die for...not to mention their duck laksa my wife had! The waitress was telling us about a sister Ginseng opening up soon that specialises in yum cha and seafood. That's definitely next on my list to dine at when in Canberra next. Fantastic!

Great Food
Wonderful food - Staff were ok, but trying to do the 'up sell' all the time and it was very noisy. However, I would go back - maybe try and sit up stairs next time!

Always a great spot for lunch
I eat here for lunch on a regular basis as they do a really good $8 lunch special. I have also eaten from the 'normal' menu and have always been happy. The meals are full of flavour and are never greasy. The service is fast and polite, and it has a nice atmosphere.
