Au Lac

This Vietnamese vegetarian eatery is distinguishable from other lentil-leaning establishments due to its faux meats (beef, pork, chicken, duck, fish, squid and shrimp), which are all made from soybean protein and have won legions of diehard fans.

Great good, REALLY FAST SERVICE, awesome prices!
I absolutely love this place. I have recently begun eating here on an almost weekly basis. The service is so quick! Within 5 minutes of ordering our food is normally on the table. The service is good too. As well as the great food, beef pho is my favourite, the meals are so cheap. You can walk out after an entre, main and a drink for roughly $20. I would highly recommend this place. I am vegan, but I often bring my non vegan/non vegartian friends along. They love it just as much as I do.

Service Anyone?
As a common restaurant goer, i found this place was good priced and the meal was not to bad, considering i am not a vegetarian. But i would like to mention that the service here needs to be picked up a little. A waiter/waitress should never argue with the customer about a order that has not been made. And drinks should be served at the beginning or before the meal not after. Over all tho the food was good.

Great food and service
We visited Au Lac on a Saturday night without a booking! The place was packed - that had to be a good sign. We were lucky enough to score the last table left in the restaurant.

The atmosphere is basic but that doesn't matter when the food is this good. The serves are a decent size and you won't leave hungry. The service was attentive and genuinely friendly.

If you're after good food and service without the fuss, this place is perfect.

Great for vegos and meat eaters alike
My boyfriend and I often come here to eat-in or get takeaway. We both really enjoy the food, even my boyfriend who isn't vegetarian, and it is always fresh, hot and fast! We've had lots of banquets there as well - with both vego and non-vego friends. Everyone always enjoys it. I enjoy the 'fake meat' and it is a great source of protein for vegetarians. If you dont like the whole fake-meat deal, dont go! But if you do, or just want a sneaky try, you'll never go back!

Great Vegetarian Food
We've eaten at Au Lac many times and can strongly recommend it. The entirely vegetarian menu is large and well worth exploring. There are many "fake meat" dishes, but these are not so similar to the real thing as to cause any difficulties for dedicated vegetarians. In fact, they are delicious! The soy roast duck is a particular favourite - crispy and tasty, with with a faint flavour of star anise, it goes well with many other dishes. The staff are happy to help in choosing suitable combinations of dishes. Chilli goes well with the food, so don't forget to ask for some chilli sauce and/or sliced fresh chillies with soy sauce. Fantastic!
